Covid-19 Survival Guide | Sparkle In Pink

Our Sparklers!
We hope you are all doing well during this trying time for our country. It has really been quite unbelievable hasn't it? All of us here at SIP have been trying to make sense of this and really thinking about what we can do to help. We weren't planning to do a blog post until Easter but decided a blog post would be good to help some of you prepare or deal with what is happening, and help keep the kiddos entertained during the break as well. Our schools here in Utah have been closed for at least two weeks.
I just wanted to show you a few things I have come up with to help make the next couple weeks a little easier and fun. It's all about routine in our house so if I can have a plan, we will all be much happier!! ☺️
Kid's Craft During Quarantine
My kids are all about crafts as I'm sure yours are too. I made it a goal to keep this unexpected time as inexpensive as possible.
I went to the Dollar Store and made my girls this craft tote.
All new art supplies; canvas, construction paper, pipe cleaners, stickers, paint, etc. And I also got a few learning books they have for my kid's ages. This whole tote cost under $15 total and will make for lots of creativity! Even though we already have most of these items, something about it being new really excites my kids and having their own little tote makes for no fighting over who gets what color!
I also saw this cute "bowling" idea with just using cups and a ball. Which I'm sure most of you already have. You can play with neighbors, play it outside, etc. Great idea for toddlers!
Germ Soap Experiment
I'm sure a lot of you have seen the videos of the germ experiment using water, pepper, and soap. I wanted to show my girls why we are so adamant about hand washing several times a day and always when coming inside the house. Especially now!
All you need to do is fill a bowl with a little water, and put pepper in it. Then have your child put their unwashed finger in the pepper water. Let them see all the "germs" (pepper) on their finger. Then dip their finger in the soap and do it again in the water. They will see all the pepper float away from their finger. The soap reflects the germs and this is a great visual activity so they can really understand what hand washing does. My girls thought this was so cool!
Our COVID-19 Daily Schedule For Kids
To wrap some ideas up, here is a daily schedule example that we will be using in our home. The reality that it will actually go as planned is slim, but one can hope! Haha. And also, a list of free online learning websites. My girls love to do learning apps or sites, so we will definitely be looking into all of these and letting them stay in the school mode as much as we can.
Finally, we really wanted to express to all of you that our thoughts and prayers go to everyone. This can be scary for kids and even us as parents. But if we can all focus on the positive and see the good in this situation, things will improve much quicker. We have strangers helping strangers, buying necessities for elderly, or those less fortunate. That is what we all need to do.
That being said, we wanted to offer a different kind of giveaway for this blog. We want to help some of those in need. Whether it's yourself, or a family member or friend, we want to give back a couple of gift cards to stores for some family necessities. We will be giving away gift cards for Visa and Venmo! We know our giveaways are normally for our store, but there are families who need this more and that's what we're going to do!
TO ENTER: Comment on this blog post if you or someone you know could use a little help. No need to specify a name, we will reach out to you if you are a chosen winner and get the details. But let us know what some struggles are and some necessities or items you or a friend are having a hard time finding during this time. We wish we could help all those who enter, but we will do as much as we can for those who really could use some help. Let's all work to make the world a better place! Winners will be carefully chosen and notified in a few days.
Thank you! 💗

Hello I would like to help a bus driver who is a single parent. She usually drives field trips and after school programs to make ends meet but is currently out of work.

THis is such a wonderful idea. Thank you for thinking about those in need, during this difficult times. I’m getting the hang of being a homeschool Mom. Still trying my best to read emails form teachers. They absolute are doing an amazing job, making sure our kids still have education and time to learn. We have now just got word, that we have a curfew that we need to follow, until April 9th. Let’s all lift up our prayers, and hopefully this will calm down soon. Keep our Faith strong, and our prayers stronger. God Bless you and all the SIP employees and the people that are making sure, that we still have our orders arrive in time. Aloha

Thank you so much for posting such essential information. During this time it’s important to stay hopeful and trust Gods plan. This didn’t catch him by surprise. Take this opportunity to spend more time with God and your family. Read a book you always wanted to read. Cook meals together and take a walk outside. Just try to stay positive and just know this to shall pass!

This is an absolute crazy time. You guys are absolutely God sent, thank you for the wonderful giveaway to help a family in need.
There is a single mother of 4, under the age of 6yrs old. She is a stay at home mom because she is fearful of putting her two youngest boys at risk of getting sick, a simple fever puts them in the hospital for days, so you can imagine how she’s feeling with this virus going around. She hates to ask for help but relies on her family to help her get where she needs to go as she looks for a cheap enough vehicle to fit her family in. Times like this where people are panic buying makes it hard for her to get diapers, wipes, and other necessities she needs for her children as well as food they can eat. She’s trying her best to stay strong but she’ll admit that it’s very tough right now. I know that if chosen she would be very thankful, if not it is going to another family in need which would make her just as happy.
God bless you and your families, and wishing you all health, and reassurance in this crazy time. <3

Thank you for the giveaway!🙏🏽 I have my parents who are both out of jobs due to Covid-19 and they take care of three of my brothers. They buy whatever food they can and try to pay their bills. However, they’re having a hard time doing that right now. This money can definitely help them!

Hello, thank you for bringing so much positively during this time. Happy to hear you listed a morning walk & fresh air break during this time. There’s something amazing what it does to our bodies, mind & soul to get these walks/ fresh air moments ❤️
I have this single mother of 2 with no job due to this current situation, no vehicle & very fearful of how she will provide for her family with no job. She has no family or friends in MN. I met her by offering a ride to her one winter with her 2 kids & groceries in their hands.
God bless you & your family for doing something so kind for others & God bless you family & business ❤️

Ya’ll are awesome!!
There are so many people in need now and will be many more in weeks to come!
The uncertainty of everything right now is mind blowing! We are a small business too and are on the verge of loosing everything! All we can do right now is pray and remember God is in control and put it all in His hands.
It truly is hard not to be anxious in a time like this. I, as I am sure everyone else here have never seen anything like it.
We are monitoring our grand princess now, we sure could use some prayers.
Thank you ladies for everything you do to make this time just a little more bearable.
And if you can hook me up with the lady that has baby needs, formula and stuff, I can reach out to my friends and see if we can’t help her!
Stay entertained and stay safe throughout these crazy times!!
Edna
I’m loving the daily schedule idea!!!

Love this! Hope everyone is staying safe. It’s so hard to find groceries, toilet paper, hand sanitizer, Clorox, much more where I live. It’s crazy!

My daughter and I absolutely love SIP! We are a big fan of the mommy and me❤️. I love the idea of your daily schedule and in fact made one myself but plan to alter it after seeing some of your ideas! Thanks for that! I am grateful for the opportunity you are giving the world and If I win I plan to use it towards supplies for my father who is on hospice due to kidney cancer and is unable to leave a hospital bed in his home. I haven’t been able to go see him because my daughter has severe asthma and it is flared up. He is low on supplies and lives 40 minutes away from me. I would love to order and have supplies and food delivered to him. Currently I am struggling to find disinfectant supplies of any kind for my own home, milk for my under 2 year old, eggs, stores are empty. Traveling may be my only result. I have 4 children 3 of which have compromised immune systems. Just trying to be as safe as possible. Thanks again for this opportunity! God is good and he is working through you! We are grateful and I speak for all others who have commented on the blog!

I want to give it to my friend who is out of work due to it. Yes, she is still getting paid but for far less than what she was making. It would help get her and her dog food and other things she would need. She doesn’t ever ask for help and she is always there for me. So I figured I would try to return the favor!

Keeping open a small business (you know that fear), not letting fear take over. Having a hard time finding toilet paper, MEAT, and cleaning supplies for my business and home!

I love ideas! Although I am a single mom and out of work because of the school closure, my work is being great and paying partially. Thank you for doing this but I know others are more in need than myself at this time.
