Covid-19 Survival Guide🦠

Our Sparklers!

We hope you are all doing well during this trying time for our country. It has really been quite unbelievable hasn't it? All of us here at SIP have been trying to make sense of this and really thinking about what we can do to help. We weren't planning to do a blog post until Easter but decided a blog post would be good to help some of you prepare or deal with what is happening, and help keep the kiddos entertained during the break as well. Our schools here in Utah have been closed for at least two weeks.

I just wanted to show you a few things I have come up with to help make the next couple weeks a little easier and fun. It's all about routine in our house so if I can have a plan, we will all be much happier!! ☺️

Kid's Craft During Quarantine

My kids are all about crafts as I'm sure yours are too. I made it a goal to keep this unexpected time as inexpensive as possible.

I went to the Dollar Store and made my girls this craft tote.

All new art supplies; canvas, construction paper, pipe cleaners, stickers, paint, etc. And I also got a few learning books they have for my kid's ages. This whole tote cost under $15 total and will make for lots of creativity! Even though we already have most of these items, something about it being new really excites my kids and having their own little tote makes for no fighting over who gets what color!

I also saw this cute "bowling" idea with just using cups and a ball. Which I'm sure most of you already have. You can play with neighbors, play it outside, etc. Great idea for toddlers!

Germ Soap Experiment

I'm sure a lot of you have seen the videos of the germ experiment using water, pepper, and soap. I wanted to show my girls why we are so adamant about hand washing several times a day and always when coming inside the house. Especially now!

All you need to do is fill a bowl with a little water, and put pepper in it. Then have your child put their unwashed finger in the pepper water. Let them see all the "germs" (pepper) on their finger. Then dip their finger in the soap and do it again in the water. They will see all the pepper float away from their finger. The soap reflects the germs and this is a great visual activity so they can really understand what hand washing does. My girls thought this was so cool!

Our COVID-19 Daily Schedule For Kids

To wrap some ideas up, here is a daily schedule example that we will be using in our home. The reality that it will actually go as planned is slim, but one can hope! Haha. And also, a list of free online learning websites. My girls love to do learning apps or sites, so we will definitely be looking into all of these and letting them stay in the school mode as much as we can.

Finally, we really wanted to express to all of you that our thoughts and prayers go to everyone. This can be scary for kids and even us as parents. But if we can all focus on the positive and see the good in this situation, things will improve much quicker. We have strangers helping strangers, buying necessities for elderly, or those less fortunate. That is what we all need to do.

That being said, we wanted to offer a different kind of giveaway for this blog. We want to help some of those in need. Whether it's yourself, or a family member or friend, we want to give back a couple of gift cards to stores for some family necessities. We will be giving away gift cards for Visa and Venmo! We know our giveaways are normally for our store, but there are families who need this more and that's what we're going to do!

TO ENTER: Comment on this blog post if you or someone you know could use a little help. No need to specify a name, we will reach out to you if you are a chosen winner and get the details. But let us know what some struggles are and some necessities or items you or a friend are having a hard time finding during this time. We wish we could help all those who enter, but we will do as much as we can for those who really could use some help. Let's all work to make the world a better place! Winners will be carefully chosen and notified in a few days.

Thank you! 💗

while the kids are out for 2 week (at minimum) I am out of work. I work in child care so since they are closed we are depending on my husband’s income.

  • Jessie Cozzens

Hi. My name isSara. This is so kind and generous of you. My daughter and I love SIP. As everyone is dealing with the schools being closed. We are having a difficult time finding childcare. My husband is in the fire academy right now. And days off are not an option. I also work in the medical field and we are always open. I am also pregnant and they have classified pregnant women with the elderly now on who are more than likely to get this horrible virus. On top of all that worry. Bills and such I still have 2 other children to care for. Also two elderly parents in their 70’s to take care of and make sure everyone has supplies and are being fed. So any help would be extremely helpful. Thank you for the opportunity.

Me and my 9 month old, Cassidy, are pretty worried about what is going on, I’m a single mom who works nights as a waitress here in Michigan. They just closed down restaurants here until further notice so I’m honestly more scared than ever. I have been saving up for a new radiator for my car but after months of saving I felt as if I could no longer use that money to fix my car but instead I used it to try and stock up on as much baby wipes, diapers, baby food and formula as I could for Cassidy. We are very worried about what the next few weeks has in store. I set aside some money for bills because my work could be closed for weeks but I worry by the time bills are due I will have needed to use that extra money towards food and supplies too (although the stores are pretty much wiped clean). Any help would be extremely appreciated and would help this momma sleep a little better at night!

Right in the middle of this outbreak, my little family is having to move. We can’t take any of our cold things with us, and will basically have to start from scratch when we get to the new place. I’m so nervous because shelves have been empty and as soon as they’re restocked, everything is gone again. I’ll have to scope out stores next week when we move in. This giveaway would help tremendously because we all know how expensive moving can be. Thank you!

My name is Lynnsey and I am a single mom of 2 girls, ages 12 and 18 months. I am having a hard time finding wipes for my baby and of course any type of disinfectant cleaning products, such as Lysol and Clorox wipes. Also toilet paper and certain foods, like meats, are very hard to get now. I am doing my best but any help would be greatly appreciated!

  • Jessie Cozzens

My girls and I love SIP. I am a single mother of 2 girls one 8 and the other 6 . My 6 yr old is disabled and legally blind. I also take care of my disabled and legally blind mom who is an amputee with high blood pressure, diabetes, and heart disease. She was just recently in the hospital last month for having a mini stroke. It’s hard for my family now we have been through a lot recently we had a house fire in 2018 and then lost everything later that year to Hurricane Michael. We are living off a fixed income . We are having a hard time finding diabetic supplies, toilet paper, Clorox wipes, and disinfectant spray. It’s hard trying to find things because I can’t go out because of my mom is elderly with so many pre conditions. I don’t want her no I to get the virus. We are all each other have. Thanks for having this wonderful opportunity for families that are having a hard time.

This is so kind and generous of you. I have a sister who is single, working a full time job as a CNA and raising a 2 year old son & new born daughter on her own. Her family tries to help as much as we possibly can but it’s not always enough. Any kind of help would be greatly appreciated!! Thank you so much and god bless

i have a niece that is a young mother who is working in a nursing home taking care of the most vulnerable in this epidemic. She loves the people she cares for and is now spending extra time with them because visitors are restricted. She could really use something extra..and I know she would share with the people she takes care of ❤️

  • Jessie Cozzens

Such a kind offering of you. I am a kindergarten teacher in an area with a 60% poverty rate. Our district has stepped up big time to offer free breakfast and lunch for kids. However, i have been feeling as if I could do more for my class. If chosen, i would use the money to purchase groceries/dinner for those in my class who truly need it right now. I know we will have many parents that are not able to work right now or who will have unexpected child care expenses, groceries is something I would hate for anyone to worry about on top of everything else. Thank you for the generosity to whomever you choose.

It is a tough time for everyone! We need to remember that God is in control and no matter if it gets better or worse He knows! He may not choose to take it away or in our timing but it does not mean that he doesn’t care. He has a greater purpose for each of us & we don’t always need to know the “why” or the “how”. Trust in Him for He alone does know!

If there is anything that is a need at this point it is just making sure that we have the food we need. It’s been crazy with shelves of food and water being sold out.

Currently the issue in Pennsylvania is it is hard to locate toilet paper or paper products of any kind, milk eggs bread, meats, soups,Obviously hand sanitizer alcohol masks gloves and bottled water. I like to call my friends a village, and if need be we will all come together and share our food and products together to get through this, also all local school district’s will be giving children free meals through the drive-through services, The major issue is my child continually screaming how bored she is already. Not to mention how bills are going to get paid with everything shut down.

  • Jessie Cozzens

Many are in need. It is bad for everyone in different ways! But I feel for my elderly neighbors who don’t have family close by. One of the neighbors doesn’t drive. They need the necessities and our local stores have not had toilet paper and cleaning supplies readily. I’d love to buy it all for them but at this time I’m not able to, I’m a single parent.

  • Jessie Cozzens

I have been having a hard time with a lot of things. My Mom is in a nursing home and we are caring for my Dad until she goes home. We have not been able to make ends meet since all this began. He has Alzheimer’s so I can’t work and leave him with the kids.

  • Jessie Cozzens

My sister (who has two kids) is the only working one, and her work is considering closing for two weeks or more. She definitely could use some help!

  • Jessie Cozzens

Right now we are in the midst of many establishments closing and many of friends and coworkers are out of work without pay (since we cannot do our jobs at home) and with kids out of school. My daughter has a page (@project.bee.kind) she uses to do daily acts of kindness and this would really help us get some of our neighbors, friends and coworkers some essentials. We also live directly around some elderly so I know it would help them greatly to have some essentials as well, especially because they cannot go and get it themselves. Thanks for helping out, it’s such an amazing thing!

  • Jessie Cozzens

I am a widowed mother of two children and currently my industry (preschool), we are having to close or drastically cut hours, and because we are a private not for profit preschool connected to a church we don’t qualify for assistance, we can’t work from home and obviously we don’t get paid if we aren’t open. We just need a little extra help to make ends meet as far as bills and necessities go. It’s my son’s birthday month and it’s certainly been a rough one.

  • Jessie Cozzens

I have a friend who is a single mama with no help from the father! The industry we work in, its not possible for us to work from home. Our place of work May close in the midst of all this and she’ll definitely be needing some help
God bless y’all for doing this!

    Ashley Cramer

    Hi all,

My name is Ashley. My daughter is four and solely relies on my for income, however as a waitress that’s no longer possible. Our governor just closed almost all food service jobs and even cut back retail hours. We live in Lake Stevens, Washington. In Snohomish county where the first case was found in the US. There are now more than 700 cases around us. My daughter wasn’t in school because she has severe asthma and immune problems. We are so scared and being a newly single mom I feel so alone about all of it. We love your clothing and love that you are doing this! You have an amazing company.

Thank you to everyone who reads this!
    Ashley and Ava <3

  • Jessie Cozzens

I work at a hotel and our hours have been cut. We were already struggling prior to this so it’s going to be even tougher now. The kids are out of school for the next 3 weeks so making sure they are properly fed is my main concern. Any kind of help would be absolutely amazing!

  • Jessie Cozzens

Im a food service worker, they are talking about closing our store for just carry out. Sales have already been down. Im super worried about making rent with hours being cut. On top of that i didnt panic buy groceries, so now stores are out and i cant get basics. My daughter has been constantly sick with influenza/ viruses and ear infection. Im worried she’ll end up with it.

  • Jessie Cozzens

    Melissa Smith

I would like to nominate my sister. She is a hair stylist who recently for the first time made a huge leap of faith & decided to go into business for herself (is renting a chair at a studio instead of actually working for a salon). She is a single mom who has spent every extra dime she makes to get custody of her son. She lives where there are many confirmed cases, so her clients have all canceled and she can’t find toilet paper anywhere (some of the stores thought she was prank calling them)! She is so worried about losing her studio space (if she does, she will not get her son back that’s she been working so hard to do for almost a year & her final return home court date is set for the beginning of April), paying her other bills, and just finding the basic necessities to live on. She’s also worried about her son, his health and if he’s getting everything he need, and being away pretty far from him doesn’t help matters. She gets to visit with him next weekend & I know that the $ will help her with money to get down here to see her so as well as help pay her chair rent, so she doesn’t lose her studio spot.

I really think that what y’all are doing is wonderful!! I know this virus has been really hard for our country as well as the world, but the way that people are uniting & helping each other is incredible.🥰

  • Jessie Cozzens

Hi, sparkle in Pink! We’re so grateful and blessed that you’re helping out anyone in need. Especially families who really need it during this time of event. I greatly appreciate what you’re doing and God bless you and your family.

  • Jessie Cozzens

Would love to enter. Me and my husband just separated a few weeks ago after finding out of his 3 year long affair. We have 2 small children and I have been a stay at home mom for years. So to say I’m starting over from nothing is hard.
You guys are amazing! And have been a customer since day 1. I might now be able to buy as much anymore but we sure love all your adorable clothes

  • Jessie Cozzens

So great what you are doing. We are a family of 6. Schools are closed, grocery stores are emptying out and no hand sanitizer, masks or toilet paper. We live on one income, are still waiting on our income tax return and are in a tight financial situation…at the worst possible time. Thank you for considering our family and for helping others in this time!

  • Jessie Cozzens

I’m a police officer who is required to interact with the public on a daily basis, we have not changed any policy on how to interact with the public as of yet. I have a 1 1/2 year old and fear bringing any germs back. There have been multiple cases of infected individuals that fellow officers have come into contact with. I am blowing through cleaning supplies trying to keep me/my gear/ my car/ and my home as clean as possible and sanitized to try and keep any germs from coming home. I am struggling to keep the cleaning supplies handy. We have been lucky so far with wipes and diapers but they are quickly coming up short in all the stores.

Bless your heart! Such an amazing thing to want to help in time of need. We all appreciate it so much ❤❤

  • Jessie Cozzens

This is amazing. We could all use a little help right now! Thank you for your kindness and generosity. You’re making the world a better place ♥️

  • Jessie Cozzens

Y’all are amazing for doing something like this. Our family could use a little bit of help with things like toilet paper diapers and wipees and baby food. You’d be surprised the things. Are out of stock at our little town you can not find any wipees or any diapers and I just went to Walmart and I could hardly find any baby food. Don’t even make me mention the whole toilet paper situation thankfully I found a few cheapy Dollar Store toilet papers which I gladly bought because there’s just no toilet paper around here. I have a four-year-old and a 7-month old little girls and with school being out I have to find things to keep my four-year-old busy instead of going to pre-k which this post blog did awesomely she’s very excited to try the germ and soap one, so thank you for that! I’m very fortunate to have my in-laws here to help my family whenever they’re able to and my family only lives an hour away so they can help as well I would just really like the security to know that I would be able to provide for my own family. Nonetheless thank you so much for all of these awesome ideas to keep my little one busy.

Hey there! I would love to enter Heather Jenkins sister.(comments below) She is a hair stylist and just had a baby boy January 11th. Her husband works tirelessly many many hours to provide extra now with the baby while she didn’t get paid any maternity leave. Now, with the virus closures she can’t go back to work and doesn’t have enough saved up for bills and baby supplies. She is one of the kindest people I know and deserves this extra help during this time. As heather had mentioned, I too, would love to be able to help, but also another military family here and already struggle on my own. So if me entering her is my way to help then that’s what I’ll do. I have Extended family to help me, her not so much. So heather and I have come together a few Times to help when we can.

  • Jessie Cozzens

You guys are truly something else! Not only do you provide super cute outfits for bargain prices but you are still thinking of your customers at a difficult time.

Our family could really just use about anything grocery wise. The kids are out of school which means meals and food at home are necessary! We don’t live in a large enough area where schools are doing bagged breakfasts/lunches. Due to surgeries and other medical conditions, going store to store to just find some necessities is tough. Our local traveling food pantries have even came to a stop. Luckily we were able to stock up on Ramen Noodles and our kids like water, they don’t complain too much about food and they realize what’s going on in the world, but a few other meals would definitely be ideal.

Thank you for always being so kind to your customers!

I know alot of people have struggled to buy toilet paper or medical supplies such as alcohol swabs, rubbing alcohol, etc.

My fiance did this just the other day to show my 6 year old the importance of handwashing and not spreading germs to others.

  • Jessie Cozzens

    Lori Stebbins

First of all, thank you so much for having this contest! It shows how much you care about your customers!

With that said, my family could use some help! We are having a hard time finding simple things like baby wipes, cleaners, etc. I was wanting to place another SIP order for some spring items, but I thought with my kids being out of school and husband possibly having work shortages or schedule changes, it may be best to hold off for now.

We would love to be able to win and be blessed with giftcards to get some crafts for my three kiddos and also help buy necessities for every day living! Baby wipes, cleaning supplies, etc. Times are scary right now, and letting my kids know we we graciously given giftcards, would really help them deal with uncertainty and missing there friends too.

Thank you once again for this opportunity!

    Love and sparkle daily,

    Lori Stebbins

I am very fortunate in saying that my family and I will have what we need. ❤️ My heart absolutely breaks reading some of these comments. Our school district just announced its closure starting on Wednesday. We are from a very poor town and have lots of families who depend on free school meals to make sure their kids good a good meal during the day. Our school district will not continue to serve meals during the closure. My heart is absolutely shattered thinking of all of the kids who will be missing out on meals, simply because their parents just can’t afford to supplement that. My husband and I have talked about donating some money to a local restaurant here to make Sack lunches or some sort of meal for the kids in need but we don’t have a lot of money to donate. We’d like to do what we can, but with your help it could go a little further. ❤️

    Hi fellow SIPS!
I would love to give my sister some much needed help in a really trying time! She just had a baby and struggled really hard just to save enough to pay her bills during maternity leave and made just enough to get by but now the day she was suppose to go back to work.. they closed for two weeks because of the virus (they are in an county with a lot of confirmed cases) with no pay and she is having to decide if she has to skips bills and get behind and used the little they have for food and baby necessities! She has worked so hard for her family and feels helpless being stuck with no income after already having to stay home with no income to take care of her sweet newborn baby boy ❤️ She is such a great mommy and deserves this so much!!! I wish I could do more for her in person but we are a military family living thousands of miles away so I would love to help her this way if I can!

I would love it to be nominated towards my grandma. She’s 74 and lives alone. She’s in the process of her lease being up for her home and has to move. She still works but is behind on some bills. I wish I could help her in this time but our family is also in a pickle.
I know it would make her smile and help her so much in need. Especially with this difficult time. She’s done a lot for my family and I , and I would love to give back in some way by doing this.

I am commenting as a Mother to a 9 year old son who is a Cancer Survivor. I’d love to see this go to one of our local Cancer families in need, there are several local charities here in NC (where the cases are exploding) that could put the 150.00 to good use for those families. As I know, this is a very scary time for anyone, let alone families like ours that have kids that are immunocompromised. This is terrifying to me, and I am keeping my son and 8 yr old daughter who is an asthma sufferer in a little bubble. Thank God I work from home for super company for a Corporate Travel Agency, so I am hearing first hand how it is out there in the real world from these travelers. I pray everyone stays safe and healthy! Thanks for the opportunity to gift it to someone in need, you all rock!

  • Jessie Cozzens

Hello! First off, that hand washing experiment seems fun. We will have to try that! If you’re able to, I could use some help with getting a few groceries at the store with pickup. I am a single mother of 3 and I do hair so needless to say no one is coming in right now. I’m hoping maybe someone will want to come to the house eventually though. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for doing your part to help! 🙏🏽

  • Jessie Cozzens

My stepdaughters mother has now turned to drugs and beating my step daughter. (I have pictures if you would like to see, this is horrific). We have gone almost bankrupt paying attorney and court fees to try to get our daughter away from her mother. She also allowed my step daughter to contract MRSA, her house is filthy!!! (We unfortunately have pictures of this consuming her entire leg). We have spent more money than you can imagine getting her into specialists and doctors to try to get her treated (insurance only covers so much) you’d think it’d be easy to call CPS and have her removed from her mother but her mother strategically hasn’t been there when they show up or post pones our court dates to drag this one (this costs more money, the longer we have to retain an attorney). Her mom wasn’t always like this, but I guess like they say once and addict always an addict and looks like she took a turn back for the worst ( my husband is currently still paying her 1,000 in child support a month THIS HAS TURNED INTO HER DRUG MONEY BUT BY LAW HE CANT NOT PAY OR HE COULD HAVE A WARRANT OUT FOR HIS ARREST). We buy clothes for my step daughter when she is here with us, and I recently was made aware form the school her mom doesn’t send her in things that fit or are for the weather. We live in MD and she lives in PA it gets cold here!!! We have essentially no money in trying to save my step daugher’s life essentially, buy her necessities pay this monster child support and keep our bills paid. This is not made up I have pictures and a stack of court papers piled thick beside me that I would be more than willing to share. We need help, whether it’s groceries, toiletries, even clothes for our 7 soon to be 8 year old so I don’t have to stress about now buying her to wardrobes and of course money in general helps. I’m so stressed and worried and now with them shutting down work places and having to use sick time I only have so much till that runs out and same with my husband.

  • Jessie Cozzens

Just had to take my daughter into Urgent care last night. Both my kids and husband went out of town before things got super crazy! I tired to find stuff at stores while they were gone and had the hardest time. Now that they are back my daughter has double ear infection and croup/stridor. Can’t even find Tylenol. The struggle and craziness of all this is a little overwhelming! Trying the best we can to stay home and get my babies feeling well.

Hi. I’m commenting for myself. My husband is currently stationed in Louisiana so I’m home by myself in Virginia with our almost 1 year old. So I’m trying to stay in doors and keep her away from the madness. However, it would be nice to have cushion for baby wipes/diapers because the stores near me are out and amazon seems to be as well or the shipping prices are ridiculous.
Thank you for doing the giveaway. I also know some friends around me who have small babies that I’d be glad to share.

  • Jessie Cozzens

Hand sanitizer, toilet paper, daily necessities, easy to prepare food, basic over the counter medicines. I take care of my 92 year old Gram and am trying my best to keep her stocked in all necessities and protect her from this virus at the same time.

  • Jessie Cozzens

I know a lady that is helping provide meals for kids in her neighborhood because they are low income. With school being out a lot of these kids parents have to be out of work and arent able to provide the needs of these children. Would love to help her with getting the needs of these children met.

  • Jessie Cozzens

My mother and father in law could use the help. They run a small bakery and business is very slow right now. Our stores are almost completely off all food and cleaning necessities. They are on a very limited income as it is. My husband and I help as much as we can, but we are on one Income and are having a hard time keeping up.

  • Jessie Cozzens

Wipes, baby water. Snacks for kids while they are home. Lysol surface cleaner, my kids just got over the flu as this was happening so it’s been hard finding anything. Our local walmart has been wiped out everytime they get restocked.
