The countdown to Christmas is happening way too fast this year, anyone else?😱 I'm hosting a few get together's this year so I've been brainstorming some new and modern twists to make my parties one to remember. I have been so excited to share them with you!
It seems you guys are fans of easy appetizers so I have one for you that cannot be simpler, but oh so elegant. Also, do you ever wonder what to give as party favors that your guests will love? What about neighbor gifts that will stand out compared to the cookies, breads, or chocolates? (Not that we don't LOVE those) But I wanted to switch it up this year and make it something awesome! So... I made a big batch of homemade vanilla extract and honestly, I don't think I'll ever buy it from the store again. It's so easy, affordable, lasts forever, and the flavor is SO much better. I promise, this will WOW whoever you give it to. Then I've got the CUTEST drink display that will put your party over the top and be the most festive addition! AMAZING! And of course, we have to throw a craft in there. These are always a hit and keep my kiddos occupied, which I'm always grateful for! Here we go!
First up, this drink display... I cannot deal with these!! I just used cranberry juice for mine. But this would be perfect for wine, sparkling cider, any cocktail or mocktail. Ahhh, it's so pretty!🤩
I just grabbed these inexpensive plastic champagne glasses and the plastic ornaments from Michael's. You can use glass on both but I wanted to keep it more affordable and it still looks so beautiful with the plastic options. Grab some rosemary sprigs, cranberries, and with your drink of choice.
It's a beautiful display, and your guests can open their ornament and pour into their glass with a gorgeous garnish and a hint of Christmas flavors. Aren't these so classy and fun!?
Now for my flavored water bowl. I wanted to again, make it festive, but the flavors are a perfect little addition to your water and display.
I sliced up a few grapefruits, added some cranberries and rosemary sprigs to my pitcher. It looks stunning and tastes so refreshing.🍊
I am so excited to hand these homemade vanilla extract gifts out this year! Super easy, and something your guests will use for months after the holidays.
All you need is a large bottle of Vodka. I just grabbed the cheap, bottom shelf bottle at the liquor store. And grabbed a bunch of vanilla beans. The rule of thumb I follow is, at least five vanilla beans to every one cup of Vodka you use.
You’ll want to split the vanilla beans in half length wise and put right into the jar of vodka. Shake multiple times a day to get all those little vanilla beans out to flavor the vodka. You’ll want this to sit for a while. The longer it sits, the better the flavor. I love to put a little sprig of vanilla bean into each little jar for looks and so it just keeps adding flavor. I found these adorable tiny mason jar bottles from Michael’s and I’ve seen more at Hobby Lobby as well. Then just tie a cute gift tag with some twine and they’re ready! On my tags, I always write “homemade vanilla extract” on it so if anyone is confused as to what it is, they know. I would love to receive this as a gift so I’m looking forward to passing mine around! Such amazing flavor in this!!🙌
Now for the appetizer. I love having one-biters for a crowd to kick a party off with. No plates or mess. These are just that. These are cream cheese stuffed, bacon wrapped dates and SO good. I just grabbed a pack of dates from Trader Joe's.
The ones I got still had the pits in them so you'll want to make sure you remove those by cutting the date length wise and removing it. Add some of the cheese inside that slit, then wrap half a slice of bacon around it and place on baking sheet.
You can use goat cheese instead of cream cheese but I personally, am not a fan so I use cream cheese. 😆 Bake at 400° for 20 minutes, or until bacon is crispy and browned. Serve in uniform on a festive platter. Yum!😋
On to our craft! I just grabbed some different large felt pages in the colors my kids like. I let them cut out the shape of a Christmas stocking and we just used a bunch of random glue on decorations and stickers.
This honestly kept them busy for over an hour... SCORE! I love seeing what they come up with when it's just a blank slate.
And this only cost about $10 total with a lot leftover for another craft day. I love that!
