Christmas Break Activity Ideas!🎄

Oh, holiday breaks... I love you, but at the same time, you stress me out! 😩 I never thought I'd be the mom that gets a little antsy for school to be back in session, but here I am, already knowing that I need to plan some ideas to keep my girls from fighting and crying during the break. Haha. I know I'm not the only one, and to those of you that don't feel this way, slow clap to you, because you have the patience of a saint. 🙌

With the feedback from our previous blog posts, I have noticed that a lot of you appreciate craft ideas. My girls would do crafts all day long if I let them. It's great and I love seeing their cute little imaginations work. So for this blog I wanted to share a few ideas that we have done and some that we are going to be trying this year during the break and hopefully they can be helpful for your family as well.

I figured I could make it Christmas focused even though the break goes through the New Year. Christmas stuff is everywhere and a lot on sale right now. I was drawn to the idea of 12 Days of Christmas. Have 12 wrapped presents, with that day's craft or activity inside. I decided to use a fun wrapping paper just for this, then everyday when you're at your wits end and losing it, tell them they get to open one of the activity presents.

Most of the crafts I got were just at my local craft store, Hobby Lobby, but there are a ton of options that I've seen at Target, Walmart, the dollar store, etc. so just grab some that you think your kids would enjoy; little kits to make penguins, reindeer, snowmen, etc. and these include all the pieces to make it which is helpful! Then I just grabbed some pipe cleaners, buttons, paints, coloring things. Just cheap things that I thought we could use for any of these crafts.

I bought some things to make their own ornaments, which was perfect because that is a gift we are actually giving to their grandparents for Christmas so it's a two-for-one! Yay! Then I just got some inexpensive things to put inside of them, fake snow, gems, pom poms and they wrote their names and the year and their grandparents can hang on to them for years to come!

The best part of these ideas are that you can find things for them that can double as your Christmas decor! (See? The two-for-one ideas saving the day!) They had these adorable wooden trees at Hobby Lobby, so I got some paint and other cute things they could use to decorate their tree, and now they're sitting on on my shelf and look so cute! It kept them occupied for almost two hours, and I didn't have to spend added money on decor to make my house festive. Score!

We have made these giant snowflakes before and I absolutely LOVED them! They look so cute and are the cheapest things ever! All you need are Popsicle sticks, glue, and paint if you want them colored. So simple! I kept mine plain because I liked the look but these are SO cute painted and I know my girls would love to paint them so maybe I will let them for another day when they need something to do!

Lastly, I made sure to label this gift so I knew to have this be the activity for Christmas Eve. I wrapped frosting and sprinkles and we made cookies for Santa! My kids love to help me in the kitchen, and of course you have to leave Santa a treat so this is a great activity idea!

There ya go, some super cute crafts and activities, whether you do them for 12 days straight or just have some handy for any day you're home and needing some ideas to occupy time. I hope they can help you! And hey, you can even have these be a gift for someone you care about!

All of our SIP team want to wish everyone a Merry Christmas. This is the time of year that there is so much goodness to witness and opportunities to serve others. We hope you enjoy every minute with family and friends this holiday season! 🎄

we use old round butter lids and make suncatchers. You put enough elmer’s glue to fill the botton put a couple drops of food coloring and let them swril it arpud and make a pretty design than let it dry. Pop it out and hang it up. My kids love it and as a daycare worker the kids in my class love to make them too. They are soo easy

I am also one of those parents that can’t wait for school to be back in session! But I love to do holiday crafts and bake for my kids. My 10 year old son and I love to bake holiday cookies and cupcakes. Decorating them is always the best part, next to eat them! Yum! This year I also sewed our family of four custom stockings! After I finished, I couldn’t stop! I ended up sewing me and some family memebers of mine custom Christmas tree skirts.
Your crafts are so adorable and I love your website! Happy holidays! :)

Both girls are very active, especially my 4 year old, so I have to find many different ways to keep them entertained! We love SIP!
